Rotation Animation not lining up

Hi any help or guidance here would be welcomed. see attachment too

I have 2 parts (both assembly models made up of smaller parts/assemblies) that I want to rotate 90 degrees in unison amongst the same axis. The one part (Forklift Mast) is rotating amongst its own vertical axis and the second part (a pallet on the forklift) also needs to rotate about the same vertical axis so that it looks like it is being moved by the forks.

I’ve tried this 2 different ways and I keep getting the same incorrect result.

1st method was to add animation to both the Mast and the pallet separately. For the mast i pick the pivot point as “self” and the pallet i pick the Mast as pivot point. The self pivot part turns out correct and it rotates correctly about its own vertical axis. But the pallet does something very strange i cant even tell what’s its doing.

The 2nd method was to group the two assemblies together in the scene tab and animate them together to rotate together, but the same outcome as method 1 happens.

So i cant seem to get the pallet to rotate about the axis i want correctly. I may be doing something wrong myself or theres a right method to do it that I am unaware of.

Any suggestions would be helpful ( pictures in word doc below)

I’m also often confused by all axis and things.

Did you try what happened if you put it on ‘local’ instead of global in the first example? And just to be sure, do the items have corresponding axis (freezed) in the 3D software? I once got totally confused while in the end I just had one item transformed in 3D but didn’t froze the values so it got a messy puzzle.

I don’t know if this will help your exact situation but I’ve had to go into the “Settings” in the animation window and add a checkmark to “Respect Scene Tree animation ordering”. Turning this on in combination with selecting specific pivots has resolved similar issues for me in the past.
